PE rail connection point overview

This example shows the PE rail connection points and the protective earth connections of the electrical cabinet.

The main PE rail =IES003-PE1 provides the central connection point for the cabinet's protective earth system. The rail contains multiple connection points that are used to connect the conductive parts of the cabinet to PE.

This page shows how the cabinet's conductive surfaces and structures are connected to the PE rail. This includes the mounting plate, cabinet housing, left cabinet door, and right cabinet door. Connecting these conductive parts to protective earth ensures that they are bonded to the cabinet's PE system.

Each connection point is identified on the PE rail and has a cross-reference to the corresponding detailed connection in the electrical schematic. This makes it possible to trace each protective earth connection back to its physical connection point.

Here two PE connection points can be seen, =IES003-PE:12 and =IES003-PE:13. These connection points are used to connect the protective earth conductors of the equipment to the cabinet's PE system.

For example, the Siemens SITOP PSU300S has a dedicated PE connection, which is connected to PE connection point =IES003-PE:12. The second PE connection point =IES003-PE:13 is used for another protective earth connection in the circuit.

The PE connection point identifiers provide a cross-reference to the PE rail overview page. This makes it possible to identify the exact connection point on the PE rail and then trace where that connection is used throughout the detailed electrical schematics.
