Power Monitoring Device PAC 3220, low voltage example
This example shows the connection of a Siemens PAC3220 power monitoring device, used to measure and monitor the electrical parameters of the cabinet's power supply.
The PAC3220 -PM1 is supplied from the control power circuit through the -F2 circuit breaker. The device therefore has a dedicated protected power supply for its own operation.
The device also receives the three-phase voltage measurement signals. The measured voltages are connected to the PAC3220 through its voltage measurement inputs V1, V2 and V3, with the corresponding reference connection. These connections allow the device to measure the voltage of the individual phases.
The current measurement is provided by the three current transformers -TC1, -TC2 and -TC3 installed on the incoming power supply. The secondary connections of the current transformers are connected to the PAC3220 current measurement inputs I1k / I1l, I2k / I2l and I3k / I3l. This allows the PAC3220 to measure the current flowing through each phase.
By combining the voltage and current measurements, the PAC3220 can determine important electrical parameters such as current, voltage, active power, reactive power, apparent power, power factor, frequency, and energy consumption.
The PAC3220 also provides digital inputs and digital outputs. In this example, the digital connections allow signals to be exchanged between the power monitoring device and the control system.
The device is also connected to the PROFINET network through its PROFINET ports. This allows the measured electrical data and device information to be communicated to the PLC or higher-level control system.
