Pneumatic Cylinder Control and Position Feedback

This example shows the electrical control of a pneumatic cylinder using a two-coil electrically controlled valve, together with sensors used to detect the position of the cylinder.

The pneumatic valve -MB1 has two coils, which are controlled by the PLC outputs Q220.0 and Q220.1. Activating the appropriate coil controls the pneumatic valve and moves the cylinder in the corresponding direction.

Two proximity sensors, -B14 and -B15, are used to detect the position of the cylinder. The sensors provide feedback to the PLC when the cylinder reaches the corresponding position.

The sensor signals are connected through the MURR -XG5 distribution module and then connected to the PLC inputs I5000.7 and I5001.7. These inputs represent the two cylinder positions and allow the PLC to determine whether the cylinder has reached the required position.
